Correlations MRI, EEG, ERPs

Recently a correlational analysis has been carried out between all IntegNeuro (Neuropsychological) tests on the one hand and MRI, ERP and EEG measures on the other hand, employing the International Brain Database. This database consists of more then 4000 subjects from whom neuropsychological,  EEG and ERP data are available. From almost 1000 of these, MRI data are also available.

Below the results are shwon rom this first exploratory analysis. First the correlations between neuropsychological tests (IntegNeuro) and MRI are shown, followed by the correlations between neuropsychological tests and EEG power measures (such as Delta, Theta, Alpha and Beta) followed by the correlations between neuropsychological tests and ERP's (Event Related Potentials).

These results can also be downloaded here.

Correlations between neuropsychological tests and MRI

It is striking that for the correlations between neuropsychology and EEG there are no significant correlations between Alpha Peak Frequency and any of the IntegNeuro tests. From studie s by Klimesch et al. it has been clearly shown there is a correlation between semantic memory and the Alpha Peak Frequency. This could be explained by the presence of multiple 'alpha like' sources in the brain thereby making the automated analysis less reliable, however this is being currently investigated.
